The Honeywell 5870API Asset Protection device is ideal for assure the proctection of individual high-value assets in a home or business. The small device allows users to protect against theft, as well as burglary, by protecting certain items from those who may have legal and reasonable access to a premesis. According to Honeywell, the Asset Protection device is ideal for environments where a constantly armed panel is impractical because free flowing human traffic is necessary. For example:

The 5870API Honeywell Asset Protection Sensor can protect valuables from theft
The 5870API has three operation modes allowing it to be used in a variety of applications. High Security (or fast trigger mode), activates the sensor after 1-3 seconds of movement, for high security assets that are not exposed to standard vibration, such as a prized painting. Standard security mode activates the asset protection device when the sensor is moved for 5-8 seconds, and is ideal for applications such as a large screen TV. Tilt mode allows the sensor to activate when it is tilted at an angle exceeding 30 degrees, for example, when the lid of a jewelry box is lifted.
Equipped with patented Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) Accelerometer technology, the 5870API asset protection sensor is compatible with Honeywell’s 5800 series of wireless security products.
